The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), the world's leading museum of art, design, and performance, is seeking a Preventive Conservator. With a collection spanning over 5,000 years of human creativity, the V&A offers an unparalleled resource for the study of visual arts. As an integral part of the conservation team, you'll help protect and maintain the integrity of these cultural treasures across multiple V&A sites. This is a chance to work within a prestigious institution that values research, knowledge, and public enjoyment of design.

  • Support the Lead Preventive Conservator in maintaining the V&A's vast collections.
  • Play a key role in the museum's preventive conservation efforts.
  • Work with a team dedicated to conservation, research, and sustainable design.
  • Passion for art and design preservation.
  • Experience in conservation or a closely related field.
  • Commitment to the V&A's mission of promoting knowledge and enjoyment of the designed world.

Benefits include a generous pension scheme, holiday allowance, flexible working, staff discounts, a bicycle loan program, and numerous training opportunities. The V&A is an equal opportunities employer, actively supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

The V&A is a family of museums dedicated to the power of creativity—its power to entertain and move, to enrich our lives, open our minds and change the world. We celebrate and share that power through a programme of exhibitions, events, educational and digital experiences, a collection of 2.8 million objects, and through our support for new works and commitment to conservation, research and sustainable design.

The Preventive Conservator works closely with the Lead Preventive Conservator to deliver preventive conservation services and support for the V&A’s collections across its multiple sites.

The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.8 million objects, books and archives that span over 5,000 years of human creativity. The museum holds many of the UK's national collections and houses some of the greatest resources for the study of architecture, furniture, fashion, textiles, photography, sculpture, painting, jewellery, glass, ceramics, book arts, Asian art and design, theatre and performance.

Our mission is to be recognised as the world's leading museum of art, design and performance, and to enrich people's lives by promoting research, knowledge and enjoyment of the designed world to the widest possible audience.

Benefits include a generous pension scheme, 29 days plus bank holidays, flexible working, tickets to V&A exhibitions, subsidised staff canteen, 25% discount in V&A shops, a give as you earn scheme, bicycle loan, interest-free season ticket, interest-free rental deposit loan, free safety checks and small repairs to your bike with Doctor Bike, and a wide range of training and professional development opportunities.

At the V&A, we are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) for all and strive to go above and beyond public duty placed upon us by the Equality Act 2010.
