  • Role Summary

  • Role Requirements
    • Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
    • Fluency in English; Dutch or Spanish is a plus.
    • Experience in brand communication/marketing is advantageous.
    • Proficiency in PowerPoint, DAM systems, and Salesforce is desirable.
    • Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, international environment independently and as part of a team.

MISSION TO METRICS 
The mission of The Ocean Cleanup is to develop and scale technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. To achieve this we rely on supporters from around the world to spread our message, donate, apply for job opening or partner with us. This mission is not one we can do alone, and in this role, you help us spread our message with our partners worldwide. 

This internship is an opportunity for students who, in the context of their studies, wish to gain practical educational work experience and deepen their legal knowledge. Interns will receive monthly compensation and free and healthy lunches at our office.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Partnership Marketing Intern, you will be involved in many new and ongoing projects to enhance partner relations, co-marketing initiatives, joint campaigns, and collaborative efforts with other organizations. You will support the Head of Brand and Partnership Marketing Manager in executing these projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience from a non-profit organization with a strong global following. The end goal is to develop data-driven insights on how these different efforts impacted brand growth (awareness, traffic, engagement, reach, etc.) and provide recommendations on how to continue improving these partnerships going forward.
Main tasks:

  • Help plan, execute, and monitor co-marketing campaigns with partner organizations.
  • Collaborate with partners on content creation, promotion strategies, and event planning.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on partnership performance and impact.
  • Develop and distribute regular updates on our social calendar, internal engagement opportunities, and newsletters to partners.
  • Assist in creating marketing materials and resources for partners.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential brand partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of partner interactions and agreements.
  • Update and manage the partnership database to ensure all information is current and accessible.
  • Provide administrative support to the Sr. Partnership Marketing Manager as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking meeting notes

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor/Master’s degree, preferably in fields such as marketing or communications
  • Fluent in English.
  • Previous experience in the field of brand communication and/or marketing is an advantage.
  • Prior experience with PowerPoint, DAM systems and Salesforce is desirable.
  • Excellent English language skills (written and verbal); Dutch or Spanish is desirable.

Please note: 

  • Candidates are expected to be available 32 hours/week throughout the internship. 
  • Candidates are expected to work from our HQ in Rotterdam at least 3 days a week.
  • If applicable, the internship can be combined with a Master's thesis project.
  • Candidates are required to be enrolled at a University (Bachelor’s/Master's/PhD program) throughout the duration of the internship.
