  • Provide high-quality sustainability consultancy to a diverse client base.
  • Independently grow the consultancy business in line with targets.

  • Stay informed on climate trends and market dynamics to effectively promote climate solutions.
  • Master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sustainability consulting, with a focus on business development and sales.
  • Strong project management skills and a successful track record in sales.
  • Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Robust network within the sustainability sector.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to identify opportunities in a competitive environment.
  • Experience with Salesforce and G-Suite preferred.

Job summary:

The goal of the Senior Managing Consultant, Advisory and Commercial is two fold: 

1) to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality consultancy advice to international, regional and local clients on sustainability topics for the corporate sector (40%) and 

2) proactively and independently expand South Pole’s consultancy business in your region, and in line with regional and individual business development targets (60%). 

You will manage meetings with multiple stakeholders, lead contract negotiations, and close big size deals for new accounts. You will also be accountable for the development and overall management of proposals on Advisory topics, as well as for the implementation of projects, for which you will supervise small project teams.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

Main responsibilities (Advisory 40%) 


  • Manage and supervise sustainability consulting mandates throughout their entire project cycle: initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure. 
  • Plan and implement projects to ensure the most efficient and highest-quality implementation 
  • Interact and build relationships with our international, regional and local clients and manage the timely delivery of mandates. 
  • Develop proposals on Advisory topics with the Key Account Managers and with senior consulting professionals to support business development activities for the company. 
  • Provide leadership in developing proposals and implementing advisory projects. 
  • Develop and improve specialised skills and knowledge linked to the topics and services offered by South Pole. 
  • The topics of engagement will focus on disclosure, climate risk, greenhouse gas accounting, Science Based Targets (SBTs), net-zero strategies and sustainability roadmaps. 

Main responsibilities (Commercial 60%) 



  • Proactively expand South Pole’s consultancy business in your region, and in line with regional and individual targets. 
  • Generate target lists for strategic new accounts in your region, understand their needs and match them to South Pole advisory offering, develop Account Plans in salesforce and their execution in order to grow the client relationship and type and number of solutions sold. 
  • Become a strategic and trusted partner for our customers, for the mutual benefit of climate impact and revenue extension. 
  • Based on the regional go-to-market strategy and in close cooperation with the Regional Head of Advisory, qualify the market best suited for sales development and growth and build and maintain a healthy pipeline for advisory solutions. 
  • Proactively engage in business development activities such as in-person meetings, conferences, events, webinars, conferences, and summits to represent the company and position South Pole in the region in line with budget and policies. 
  • Manage client meetings in close collaboration with the expert teams, lead prospect conversations, contract negotiations, and close deals with strategic prospects. 
  • Communicate across external and internal teams ensuring a smooth client experience and confidence to convince senior directors (internal and external) to make revenue-generating decisions. 
  • Stay on top of climate trends and develop in-depth knowledge of competitors, clients, and market dynamics to better demonstrate the superiority of our climate solutions in terms of quality and credibility attributes and benefits for our clients. 
  • Support value-based pricing decisions for bespoke advisory services. 
  • Support in annual go-to-market strategy, and running reviews throughout the year.

Requirements:

Essential -


  • University degree, ideally at a Master’s level or higher, in Environmental Sciences or Engineering, Economics or other sustainability-related disciplines. 
  • Relevant knowledge of environmental sustainability challenges in multinational companies 
  • Relevant work experience (the expectation is a minimum of 5 years) in sustainability consulting or a related field, with at least 3 years of proven business development and sales experience with a high preference in the sustainability field, corporate responsibility, sustainable development and/or climate change. 
  • Track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets 
  • Advanced project management skills, from both a technical and administrative standpoint, and proven ability to guide project teams in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geographies context. 
  • Proven expertise in autonomously creating high-quality written documents (proposals and deliverables). 
  • Industry-relevant connections, with a network of potential clients, collaborators and other relevant stakeholders. 
  • Strong drive for results, action-oriented, with self-direction and sense of urgency 
  • Demonstrable commercial skills and good business sense so as to be able to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment. 
  • Ability to successfully navigate complexity and effectively deal with ambiguity Excellent English skills, any other languages is a plus 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
