Role Summary:

Role Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent in technology-related fields (Sound/Visual/Art/IT).

  • Proficiency with a broad spectrum of AV and IT systems.
  • Excellent time management and the ability to handle pressure gracefully.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with various stakeholders.

The British Museum is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive AV Support Technician to provide an exceptional AV Service to our staff. This is a full-time site-based role which will involve working on some weekends to support after-hours events.

The role entails supporting the operation of AV facilities in all areas of the Museum, including lecture theatres, seminar rooms, permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, meeting rooms, and educational spaces. This will involve the use of a wide range of AV equipment, presentation media, lighting, and sound systems, as well as installations for permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions. You will also support onsite, hybrid and online events.

Job requirements include a degree (or equivalent) in an area of relevant technology (Sound/Visual/Art/IT). Experience of working within an AV environment, ideally a large-scale cultural organisation or museum. Otherwise, such venues as conference centres or universities. Working knowledge of a wide range of AV and related systems in a variety of formats, and a high level of IT literacy. Demonstrable time management skills and an ability to work under pressure, as well as communicate, coordinate, and organise end users in a sensitive and diplomatic manner.
