What will you be doing?

Research Trustee role As Research Trustee, you will provide strategic oversight of all research activities within Afrikindness. You will work closely with Executive Board leads and programme teams to shape a robust research agenda aligned with our strategic goals. You will also ensure our work remains evidence-based, ethical, and impactful. This strategic role will lead and oversee our research work, ensuring it informs practice, influences policy, and strengthens our mission to foster racial harmony, support families, and promote inclusive education. 

What are we looking for?

Key Responsibilities: Develop and strengthen strategic research networks by building partnerships with academic institutions, research boards, government bodies, local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders; ensuring Afrikindness remains informed, evidence-led, and engaged in policy and research discourse. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies that support our mission.

Lead the development and implementation of Afrikindness’ research strategy by working directly with the Research Team Lead Oversee research ethics, quality assurance, and data integrity. Support design and evaluation of programmes, workshops, and interventions. Supervise volunteer and academic researchers within the team. Collaborate with universities, research bodies, and community stakeholders. Translate findings into reports, publications, and strategic recommendations.

Skills & Experience Required:

Strong background in research (preferably in education, social sciences, psychology, or community development). Strong understanding of ethical research practices and impact measurement. Experience managing or mentoring research teams. Ability to translate complex data into practical insights. Passion for equity, child development, and community empowerment.
