Role Summary

  • As a Research Lead, Clinical Research, lead the clinical research workstream within the Infectious Disease Programme.

Role Requirements

  • Proven clinical research leadership in LMIC settings.
  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, DrPH, or a relevant MSc).
  • Expertise in clinical trial methodology and research governance.
  • Aptitude to strategically operate within a research funding environment, collaborate, engage stakeholders, and form equitable partnerships across LMIC institutions, governments, academia, and delivery partners.

The role: As a Research Lead, Clinical Research, you will take a leading role in advancing the clinical research workstream within the Infectious Disease Programme. This involves scoping, strategic planning, and delivery. You will guide projects, lead colleagues, and work with expert advisers to ensure clinical research activity aligns with and strengthens the team’s overall strategy. This role presents an exciting opportunity to influence the development of clinical research programmes under Wellcome's ambitious 10-year strategy.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading clinical research in LMIC settings, a well-established scientific background ideally supported by an advanced degree (such as MD, PhD, DrPH, or a relevant MSc), and expertise in clinical trial methodology and research governance. You should be able to operate strategically within a research funding environment, have effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to build equitable partnerships across LMIC institutions, governments, academia, and delivery partners.
