What will you be doing?
The Movement Pathway team meets weekly Monday's 13:00-14:00 and the Recruitment Support volunteer would need to attend these. The rest of the hours are flexible. People support XR but may not realise that we not only need activists but also specialists. They work remotely using their particular skills. Every team also needs recruiters, trainers, budget holders, planners, project managers and team leaders. Many volunteers can only give a few hours each week. They are keen but may be in full-time work, so recruitment is a constant task. We need to train, integrate and motivate our volunteers to improve retention, although many leave for personal reasons such as insufficient time available. You will be part of the friendly and supportive Movement Pathway team, which coordinates the recruitment and integration of volunteers into XRUK teams. Tasks include:
Brainstorming Helping teams write and improve opportunities like this one Developing recruitment strategies in addition to posting opportunities, such as through local events, online role fayres and social media. Asking questions to challenge our approach Helping team members who don't have the time or experience to recruit and train volunteers. Ensuring recruits are nurtured with help and support when needed.
Work when you like, hours are flexible and we work remotely. Most teams are spread widely and meet weekly using Zoom but you won't need to attend every week. Although this role is aimed at UK-wide teams providing specialist help across XRUK, there are also regional and national teams and local groups trying to recruit and who may hold face-to-face meetings. You don't need experience with XRUK, as full training will be provided. You will learn how we work without having a management hierarchy but by being democratic, welcoming, regenerative, inclusive and avoiding marginalisation.
