Rewilding France was founded in 2020 with the mission to restore nature in the Dauphiné Alps, which spans approximately 450,000 hectares between the cities of Grenoble, Montélimar, Gap, and Sisteron, in the historical province of Dauphiné. The Dauphiné Alps are already an example of rewilding and the return of wildlife in Europe. Rewilding France aims to extend and highlight this.
The Director’s main role is to oversee and coordinate all aspects of development, design, planning, implementation, management, fundraising and reporting of the Dauphiné Alps as one of the potential new rewilding landscapes of Rewilding Europe. The Director will lead the team and work closely with the Rewilding France board of directors and the Rewilding Europe team.
The main responsibilities of the Director are to drive the Dauphiné Alps forward in all its aspects, in line with Rewilding Europe’s Strategy 2030, and deliver tangible and meaningful rewilding outputs and impact at landscape scale. The Director will also develop and maintain close relationships and constructive dialogue with key stakeholders, and establish and formalise strategic partnerships with these on rewilding, communication or enterprise development.
The ideal candidate should have a Master’s degree of higher in natural resources management/conservation, ecology or related fields, at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in the conservation sector or related fields, and a proven track record in fundraising and grant management, both local ational and international level. The candidate should also have excellent interpersonal and lobbying skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and partners at all levels.
