The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation dedicated to improving health by supporting bold science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships. We are committed to spending £16bn over the next decade to fund new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and to address three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease, and climate and health. These challenges require innovative scientific approaches, but also need more than just science to be solved.

The Role: You will be joining the Wellcome Collection as a Software Engineer, reporting to the Lead Software Engineer in the Data team, which is part of Data & Digital. This role does not confine you to one specific product team; instead, it offers the opportunity to work across various products and digital teams depending on the needs, including Wellcome Collection, Data, and Wellcome Digital spaces.

Job Requirements: As a Software Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions based on product requirements and specifications. You will work primarily on the back-end, building and maintaining APIs, data pipelines, and services that power Wellcome Collection's platforms. While most of your work will be server-side, you will occasionally collaborate on full-stack changes. We welcome applications from engineers with a primary background in front-end, provided they are keen to develop back-end skills.

Benefits: Wellcome offers a hybrid way of working, with three days required in our Euston Road offices and two days of flexible working, which can be remote or in-office. We are dedicated to diversity and inclusion, ensuring a fair and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. We offer excellent benefits and support flexible working options for all roles.

How to Apply: To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV and respond to two application questions demonstrating that you meet the minimum requirements. These include a good understanding and experience of a server-side language or solid client-side experience with a demonstrable interest in learning back-end development, experience with solid development practices including git and CI, some understanding of Agile processes, and the ability to transform designs into features.
