What will you be doing?
Citizens Advice Essex is the lead charity for nine local offices, supporting around 50,000 clients annually with issues like debt, benefits, employment, and housing. Our consortium, funded by organisations like British Gas Energy Trust and Macmillan, had an income of £2.1 million for 2023/24.
What are we looking for?
Senior leadership experience. Practical experience in leading organisational transformation andstabilising organisations during periods of significant change. Managing senior staff, translating agreed strategic aims intodeliverable staff objectives. Experience working with diverse non-executive board memberships and fostering inclusive and diverse boards. Knowledge of governance principles and practices within charities. Proficiency in effectively communicating with diverse stakeholdergroups. A strategic mindset, focused on long-term goals and integratingfrom various contexts. Commercial acumen and the ability to foresee future trends. Strong board chairing skills, including facilitating discussion,summarising key points, and building consensus. Compelling communication style, excellent judgement, anddiplomatic skills. A trusted presence with high personal credibility and acollaborative approach. An interest in organisational development and supporting broaderorganisational dynamics. Personal integrity, fairness, inclusivity, and openness in leadershipstyle. What difference will you make?
As Chair, you will provide strategic leadership, ensure high governance standards, and act as an ambassador. You will support the Consortium Director and foster stakeholder relationships. The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience, an understanding of charity governance, and excellent communication and diplomatic skills.
