What will you be doing?

We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Trustees as the Chair and be part of the CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) committee. This committee plays a key role in ensuring we can continue to positively provide early years services and support to local families. As the Chair of Trustees, you will lead a team in directing the strategic progression of the charity, ensuring financial security, and navigating business, management, or governance issues as they arise. Key Areas of Expertise Needed:

Finance Human Resources (HR) Forward Business Planning Grant Applications Marketing Policy Reviews and Governance Procedures Succession Planning

Chair Role: The Chair will ideally:

Lead the Board of Trustees and ensure the effective governance of the charity. Work closely with the staff manager and other trustees to implement strategic plans. Ensure that the board's decisions are acted upon and that the organization remains financially secure. Oversee policy reviews and updates, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Support fundraising efforts and represent the pre-school in the community. Assist in establishing a new team, ensuring efficient teamwork. Help streamline processes and improve record-keeping practices.

If you have experience in Finance, HR, business planning, or any of the other key areas listed, and you are passionate about contributing to the success of Blackdown Pre-School, we would love to hear from you. Who Can Apply:

You do NOT need experience in Early Years or childcare provision. Our professional staff are the experts in these areas. The role is subject to suitability checks by Ofsted and a DBS check to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.

What are we looking for?

We are ideally looking for someone with a business/HR background, though would consider experience in the following areas if you have a particular attention to the detail:

Finance: We are particularly in need of a Treasurer with financial and accounting skills. Your role will involve assisting with financial planning and management, budgeting, and ensuring robust governance around financial matters.
