What will you be doing?

The Chair of Urban Cure CIC is a pivotal role, responsible for leading and guiding the Board to ensure effective decision making, planning, and governance ensuring that Urban Cure CIC achieves its mission of supporting community and heritage-led regeneration in Southend on Sea and beyond. The Chair will also represent Urban Cure promoting its mission to stakeholders and the wider community Responsibilities Running Board Meetings and Leading the Board

Leadership to the Advisory Board Members, ensuring a collaborative and strategic approach. Ensure the board operates successfully on the long-term sustainability and impact of Urban Cure. Respectful and productive environment by managing the meetings process and behaviour Follow up on actions and items outstanding throughout the year, ensuring accountability and progress. Develop open discussion and active participation from all board members, valuing diverse perspectives and contributions. Ensure smooth and productive board meetings so all members have the opportunity to consider and contribute decisions for the betterment and interest of Urban Cure Encourage constructive challenge and support for effective decision-making. Set the agenda for meetings in consultation with the Founder Director/CEO, company secretary and other Directors as required.

Advocating Good Governance and Board Development

Uphold good governance practices with board members, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and ethical standards. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the board, implementing improvements as necessary. Provide support, to the Founder Director/CEO, ensuring alignment with Urban Cure's strategic objectives. Ensure communication between the board and the Founder Director/CEO, ensuring mutual understanding and collaboration. Support the recruitment of a diverse and skilled board members to support Urban Cure's objectives. Support new board members through their induction process, so they understand their roles and responsibilities through ongoing training and development

Skills and Qualifications

Demonstrated leadership experience in a not for profit organisation. Understanding of governance and legal requirements for not for profit organisation.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate board members.  Strategic thinker to guide the organisation towards achieving its mission and goals.  Commitment to the values and objectives of Urban Cure CIC, to act as a credible and compelling representative of the organisation.
