What will you be doing?
This role is open to those who wish to work with us remotely, although face to face attendance at 4 board meetings a year and the AGM is a minimum requirement. We are looking for an experienced person to join our Board who is able to bring experience and fresh ideas to the team. We estimate the role will need approximately 8 hours a month but regular email contact would be essential. We are looking for a trustee who would join our board who is familiar with governance and who would help staff with ensuring we are a well-run charity and fully compliant. In general we are looking for positive, enthusiastic and committed trustees who want to make a difference in Fareham. The successful candidate will need to:
understand and accept the responsibilities and liabilities as trustees be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own have good listening, verbal and written communication skills be able to exercise good independent judgement have good numeracy skills to understand accounts with the support of the treasurer be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection be willing to undertake training in your role

set policy and strategy direction, set targets and evaluate the performance of the local Citizens Advice with regard to Research and Campaigns and Equality and Diversity understand and accept the responsibilities and liabilities as trustees be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own have good listening, verbal and written communication skills be able to exercise good independent judgment have good numeracy skills to understand accounts with the support of the treasurer be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection be willing to undertake training in your role seek the views of all sections of the community and monitor how well the service meets the needs of the local community ensure that the service plans for the equitable and diverse recruitment and turnover of staff and volunteers review its own work and how effectively it operates including action for improvement
