The organisation - Mob
Mob was founded seven years ago by Ben Lebus. Over the last 7 years, Ben and the team have built Mob into the most followed food media brand in the UK, with an audience of 4 million across various channels. They have released 5 bestselling cookbooks and worked on partnerships with some of the most prominent consumer-facing brands in the industry. Last year saw them launch Mob Premium, a subscription-based members platform launched in April 2023, which scaled to ~41,000 paid subscribers and £140,000 MMR within 14 months. The team are now working on an app to create an even more compelling product for users.
The role - Recipe Sub-Editor
As a recipe sub-editor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and overall quality of the recipes we publish. You will work closely with recipe developers, photographers, and other editorial team members to refine and perfect each recipe before uploading it into our CMS. Alongside this you will be responsible for working on SEO optimisation of new recipes as well as working on the optimisation of our archive of recipes.
Job requirements
Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in sub-editing, copy editing, or a related role within the culinary or lifestyle media industry. Exceptional editing and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail. Excellent knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and culinary terminology. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and basic understanding of SEO principles. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. A genuine passion for food, cooking, and recipe development. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.
