What will you be doing?
Researching domestic and animal abuse so that information can be shared to improve knowledge and understanding of this phenomenon, so that those experiencing it do not feel alone, it a key part of the work that goes on behind the scenes at our charity. Our main purpose is to provide fostering services to the animals of those affected by domestic abuse so that they can flee and find safety and a secure future. But to ensure we can reach those people, women and men, straight, gay and other members of the LGBTQI+ community, of all ethnicities and other groupings, we need to collate information and share it using meaningful methods. We are therefore looking to produce an informative documentary.
What are we looking for?
The ideal applicants will have experience in the production of media like our documentary. The applicants should have a strong passion in helping animals and human victims of domestic abuse, and be knowledgeable about modern technology. They will be working with others on this project, and so should be good at collaborative working. Access to technology including cameras would be hugely beneficial as the charity does not own the necessary equipment. We need dedicated people only to volunteer with us, please, so if you are not likely to be able to commit for a reasonable time, please consider some of our other opportunities, or those of other organisations who may need some sort term assistance. Due to the nature of our work, we ask for open and communicative volunteers only. We get a significant number of people applying who very quickly confirm they do not have much time to work on projects. Please note that this is a long term project, but we do not ask for a significant amount of time each week. Please only apply for this position if you know you would be able to dedicate a little bit of time regularly over the next year. If you have a big project that will take you away for a few months, starting in a month or two, then this really isn't for you.
What difference will you make?
Sharing the work we do and alerting the general public to the need for good foster carers and other interventions, as well as letting survivors know that we can help, means that those involved with this project will have a hugely positive impact on these people, as well as on the charity, taking it to the next steps of its development as a national charity.
