What will you be doing?
Joining our board of trustees is a commitment to Alike’s mission as well as our products. We need our trustees to not just believe in our potential, but to authentically champion it. Our ideal treasurer can clearly envision Alike taking a leading role in combating isolation in the cancer community - and in making a lasting, positive change. We’re looking for an active, engaged and experienced individual to join our existing board during this thrilling period of growth and innovation. We are looking for trustees who share our enthusiasm for Alike’s mission. We want someone who can be a champion for our community, our product and our successes, who firmly believes in not only our potential and ability to improve the lives of cancer patients and survivors with our products, but to make a lasting and positive change in combating the isolation experienced by people who have cancer.
What are we looking for?
Skills and Experience:
An understanding of the challenges faced by those living with cancer and the impact of emerging technology in addressing these challenges Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style • Excellent financial literacy evidenced by experience, qualifications or both! An understanding the financial landscape of the charity sector including grant management, trading subsidiaries (also known as ‘trading arms’) and the Charities Commission SORP Knowledge of and/ or experience of the annual reporting responsibilities of charities

The role of Treasurer at Alike offers a profound opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals affected by cancer. As Treasurer, you will be at the heart of ensuring Alike's financial health, thereby supporting its mission to end the loneliness and isolation experienced by cancer patients. Your financial stewardship will enable Alike to scale its groundbreaking digital platform, fostering peer support among the cancer community across the UK. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Managing Director and Operations Manager, providing critical financial oversight and guidance. Your expertise will be instrumental in managing budgets, reviewing monthly financial reports, and ensuring compliance with charity financial regulations. By scrutinising board papers, leading financial discussions, and participating actively in strategic planning, you will help steer Alike towards sustainable growth.
