What will you be doing?
Christ in the Community seeks a Trustee with firsthand knowledge of Jamaica's economic landscape. The ideal candidate will possess a proven ability to forge strong relationships with key stakeholders and collaborate with organisations to deliver tangible support to families living in extreme poverty. We are looking for a compassionate individual with a deep understanding of Jamaica to join our Board of Trustees and contribute to our mission of supporting those in need. Responsibilities
Organisation
Build relationships with stakeholders in Jamaica. Gather support for our School Feeding Program and Annual Back to School Drive. Work closely with Christian organisations, churches and other organisations in Jamaica. Understand the economical challenges in Jamaica and advocate for support within Jamaica to help our mission to secure financial support to address the needs of communities in Jamaica.
Governance and Oversight:
Review and approve CIC's strategic plans, budgets, and financial statements. Ensure our CIC operates in compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements within Jamaica. Oversee the management team and provide strategic guidance. Participate in regular Board meetings and contribute actively to discussions. Attend relevant training sessions to stay up-to-date on governance best practices.
Fundraising:
Utilise your network and expertise to identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors. Work closely with churches and Christian organisations to build relationships and further our Christian endeavours. Assist with fundraising initiatives and grant applications. Advocate for CIC and its mission to secure financial support.
Fiduciary Duties:
Act with integrity and uphold the highest ethical standards. Be led by our Christian values when making decisions and forming relationships. Ensure the responsible use of CIC's resources. Declare any potential conflicts of interest.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications
Proven leadership experience in a relevant field (e.g., business, volunteering, non-profit sector, law). Excellent strategic thinking and decision-making skills. Strong analytical and financial literacy. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with governance best practices is a plus. Experience with fundraising in a non-profit setting is a plus.

Willingness to foster connections and support the emotional and practical needs of communities within Jamaica. Your participation will help us to reach our goals as a CIC, touching the lives of people who are in great need of our intervention.
