What will you be doing?
BHN are looking for a person willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our Board. You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide a full induction and training. A full list of duties can be found in the attached candidate pack. Time Commitment
Preparing for and attending trustees’ meetings (currently 4 evenings per year). These are hybrid - while attendance in person is encouraged, we appreciate that this is not always possible. Attendance at Annual General Meeting (AGM) (1 per year). Annual Away Day, Board effectiveness review and annual strategy meetings (usually two half days per year). Finance Sub-committee meetings - currently the Finance Sub-committee meet 6 times a year online. Regular online meetings with the external accountants.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has the following skills and experience: Essential
A finance professional with experience of bookkeeping standards, financial controls and processes, annual accounts production, budgeting and cash flow forecasting. Clear communicator with the ability to bring the financial information alive to non-finance specialists. Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, liaising with auditors.
Desirable
Knowledge of Charity accounting and SORP. Supervising or mentoring people.
