Role Summary:

The John Muir Trust is a progressive conservation organisation dedicated to conserving, protecting, and repairing wild places for the benefit of everyone. We are currently seeking a visionary individual to join our team as a Director of Policy.
The role: As the Director of Policy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the strategic direction of the John Muir Trust. You will lead on the delivery of Policy objectives in the regulatory space and influence at Government level – both at Holyrood and Westminster. You will work closely with the CEO, leadership team, and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that enhance the Trust’s impact on Wild Places across the UK.
Job requirements: Significant career experience in and an understanding of conservation and environmental issues, ability to shape and delivery strategy an influence and navigate politics is required. You should be passionate about the conservation and protection of wild places, visionary with the ability to inspire and motivate others, and committed to the principles and values of the John Muir Trust.
Benefits: We offer a competitive salary (Band E), a 5% employer contribution to a group auto-enrolment pension scheme, and 34 days of holiday per year plus 2 ‘wild days’ or 2 sustainable travel days.
