Please note, this is a hybrid role based on the successful candidate working at least two days a week in our London office. Remote contracts would not be considered for this role.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

As our Prospect & Partnership Intelligence Manager, you will build and manage a healthy prospect pipeline to increase six and seven figure income for Comic Relief. 

With an analytical mindset and great communication skills, you will identify, evaluate and profile prospects across philanthropy, corporate partnerships and TFI (trust, foundation, and institution).   

This is a new and technical position responsible for establishing the systems and processes needed to support a robust prospect research programme – a great opportunity for you to build a new programme within a well-established organisation. 

Your contribution will be pivotal in transforming lives and helping us achieve our goal of a ‘Just World Free From Poverty’.

Key responsibilities:  

Systems and processes 

  • Establish the systems and processes needed to support a robust and efficient prospect research programme. 

  • Work closely with the CRM Project Group to ensure our team prospect research needs are met, and there is a smooth and successful transition to the new Salesforce CRM. 

  • Embed best practice use of Salesforce within the team and develop the functionality to analyse our prospect pool and movement through the pipeline. 

Prospect Research and Management 

  • Build a comprehensive prospect research pipeline to help achieve philanthropic, corporate partnerships and TFI income targets.  

  • Identify, evaluate, profile and prioritise top prospects using a broad range of innovative techniques including analytics, third-party research tools, CRM data mining, stakeholder network mapping, and leveraging relevant media. 

  • Prioritise new business in the team by establishing and leading team Prospect Meetings, to present new prospects and your recommendations to the team. 

  • Work with the team to shape solicitation plans and approaches. 

  • Identify networking opportunities for team members. 

  • Support the active management of pipelines by delivering monthly and quarterly pipeline reviews through accurate reporting and prospect analysis.  

  • Work with the Senior Audience Strategist to gain intelligence on our existing audience and potential audiences. 

  • Work with the Funding Team to identify new gift opportunities that appeal to new prospects. 

  • Lead on the delivery of high-quality event briefings for senior stakeholders. 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across the organisation to enhance the capture of prospect and donor information, as well as network mapping. 

Sector Knowledge 

  • Monitor trends in prospect research, due diligence, and market insights. 

  • Monitor trends in the UK and global funding environment, specifically next generation donors, wealth advisors, intermediaries, and talent. 

  • Monitor trends, innovations, and developments in CSR and Corporate Partnerships. 

Data management, risk screening and due diligence  

  • Coordinate with the Legal and Assurance Team to conduct ethical and risk screening for all new prospects and some existing donors and partners. 

  • Ensure consistency and integrity of research and data entry. 

Person Specification

Essential criteria 

  • Significant experience of delivering a prospect research programme within a philanthropy and/or partnerships team. 

  • Experience of using a broad range of resources and techniques to capture, collate and disseminate information regarding prospect research. 

  • Solid experience of conducting due diligence within the charity sector and knowledge of GDPR, freedom of information and other relevant legislation and its application to fundraising and partnerships. 

  • Ability to work proactively and manage a busy workload. 

  • Significant experience of using a CRM, including running queries and reports. 

  • Excellent team player with flexible working methods and the ability to adopt new processes and support colleagues in a fast-paced and busy environment. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with a systemic approach to work. 

  • Confident verbal and written communicator. 

Desirable criteria  

  • Experience of Salesforce 

  • Experience of setting up a new prospect research programme. 

  • Knowledge and awareness of trends and best practice across the sector. 

  • Sound understanding/experience of working within a charity.
