Role Summary:Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and analysts to enhance user connectivity and storytelling on Strava.Provide technical leadership and mentorship while advancing your own skills.Develop empathy for athletes to improve their Strava experience and ensure the successful implementation of services.Foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment.Embrace and learn new technologies to expand your expertise.

Role Requirements:Experience in building production services using languages such as Ruby, Java, Scala, Python, or Go.Proficiency with relational or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, Redis, Cassandra).Familiarity with open-source distributed systems technologies (e.g., Kafka, Finagle, Kubernetes, Docker).An eagerness to work with subscriptions and payments systems.

This role is on the Community Engagement team. We are responsible for all of the ways Strava users connect to their community as well as how they tell their athletic story on the platform.

  • Work with a team of engineers, designers, product managers, and analysts to help Strava users find and connect with their community

You will be successful here by:

  • Demonstrating empathy for athletes and their experience while using Strava
  • Own your work and partner with cross-functional peers to ensure services are adequately scoped and implemented.
  • Contributing to an inclusive and collaborative team culture
  • Be willing to explore and learn new technologies outside of your comfort zone.

We’re excited about you because:

  • Have built services in a production environment, using languages like (but not limited to) Ruby, Java, Scala, Python, Go, etc.
  • Have experience with relational or NoSQL databases in production (we use MySQL, Redis, and Cassandra)
  • Have experience with open-source distributed systems technologies (we use Kafka, Finagle, Kubernetes, and Docker)
  • Have experience working with or are excited to learn about subscriptions and payments
