What will you be doing?
The plot-holders enjoy getting on with their gardening in peace, but there are some routine tasks to be done, and problems can occasionally arise that need to be sorted out. General management:
Responsible for running the allotments site, including assigning vacant plots to new licensees. Accountable for annual invoicing and ensuring that all licence fees have been paid.
Communications:
To all licensees - by noticeboards/posters or website, or by email or post. To people enquiring about a vacant plot. To licensees who raise issues requiring attention.
Site Maintenance:
Annual inspection(s) - for licence-compliance and for health & safety. Arranging for contractors to keep the site tidy, including preparing overgrown plots for a new plot-holder. Supervising water supplies, gates/keys & security.

What are we looking for?
A business-like approach to running the site. An organiser - arranging site maintenance work from time to time. Computer literate - email, correspondence, spreadsheet records, reporting. Interpersonal skills - approachable, maintaining good relations with plot-holders. Accounting for funds received/paid, annual invoicing, chasing outstanding payments.
Useful Skills/Knowledge: General management, operations management, bookkeeping, awareness of health & safety, computer literacy (e.g. email, wordprocessing, spreadsheets).
What difference will you make?
Generate income from putting our land to good use in a business-like fashion. The annual payments by the plot-holders raise several thousands of pounds each year - money which is used to make grants to people in need who live across West Reading, Tilehurst, Calcot and Theale. Maintain good relations with our licensed plot-holders. There's a cheery 'hello' and a smile to be had from those who gain satisfaction from working on the land.
