Volunteer Trustee and Company Secretary

What will you be doing?

Why the Health Action Research Group is needed – There are ever-increasing health inequalities in the UK, with falling life expectancy and increasing years in poor health for many people. Our long-term aim – People living longer, in good health, whatever their postcode. Our Strategic Objectives for 2023 - 2028

Achieve a cross- government/Health in all policies approach With priority given to the first 1000 days of life for both physical and mental health Fresh approaches to young people’s mental health, as current approaches often aren't working

Your contribution - as a full member of the Board of Trustees you'll help guide our development while as Company Secretary you'll clerk Trustee meetings, document our decisions and ensure we operate in line with our charitable constitution and meet our legal reporting requirements. We'll be interested to hear from you if you:

Have at least three years professional experience in the UK in one or more of the following fields: Legal, Office & Administration Management, Governance, Accountancy. Share our belief that prevention is better than cure and would like to help us achieve our health objectives.

What are we looking for?

Legally able to act as a charity Trustee At least three years relevant practical and professional experience in the UK in one or more of the following fields: Legal, Office & Administration Management, Governance, Accountancy. Excellent organisational and communication skills Integrity and sound judgement Able and willing to work collaboratively with others Willing to act as Trustee and Company Secretary for three years in the first instance, with the option of a further period of office by mutual agreement An interest in and commitment to the principle that when it comes to the nation’s health, prevention is better than cure.

Experience of working in a health charity or think tank would be an added recommendation.

As our Company Secretary you will have the opportunity to develop a role that will be important in ensuring we maintain high standards of governance and legal compliance, to underpin our credibility.
