At Beam, you get to do work that really matters. We’re solving the world’s toughest social problems. And we’re growing fast 🚀

About the role

We’re looking for a Caseworker (or ‘Pathway Coach’) to transform the lives of disadvantaged people by supporting them into stable jobs.

You’ll be joining a team of values-driven and creative Caseworkers while being individually responsible for supporting a caseload of people referred to Beam - our “members”. This role will support our Nottingham region caseload and will have a hybrid working pattern between members' locations, your home and trips to London.

After an immersive training period, you’ll help our members to picture a brighter future before guiding them through concrete steps to achieve their goals.

As a Caseworker at Beam, you will have the opportunity to support people into independence - this could be through securing a stable job or by helping them build on critical skills like IT, self-confidence and more. Casework generally involves supporting people into employment while leveraging your strengths and building innovative solutions to better support our members every step of the way.

In this role, you’ll be

  • Supporting vulnerable individuals - using our AI-powered caseworker technology and your excellent caseworker skills to empower members to reach their goals.

  • Working towards targets - ensuring measurable progress and impact in the lives of our members through job starts and more.

  • Harnessing technology to amplify your impact - Homelessness is on the rise and we’re supporting more people than ever before - you’ll learn to harness platforms like G-Suite and AI tools to increase efficiencies and ultimately better support your members.

  • Running in-person and remote meetings - you’ll be supporting your members in-person multiple times a week, and other days remotely from your home.

  • Wearing your problem-solving hat - the people we support have unique barriers and you’ll regularly research and find creative ways to overcome them and hunt down the best opportunities for progression.

As a job hunter, you’ll be

  • Crafting personalised action plans - to support individuals in preparing for, securing, and sustaining employment.
  • Delivering 5-star training - framing compelling CVs, helping members prepare for interviews, using the latest technology to search for opportunities, and rebuilding the confidence needed to succeed.
  • Building and owning relationships with a network of local employers - ensuring they are aware of members we support, and regularly collaborating to source job opportunities for our members.
  • Championing your members’ job needs - this could be pitching your member as a suitable employee to companies and more.

You are

  • Determined - changing lives is not easy and you’re someone who loves hard challenges

  • Compassionate - you’ll need to be equipped with strong listening skills, genuine compassion and a super positive attitude to support members navigating very challenging times.

  • Confident and have strong communication skills - you’ll set boundaries and clearly communicate with a diverse group of people from members and landlords to internal stakeholders and our government partners.

  • Adaptable and resilient - you’re someone who’s energised by ever-changing and fast-paced environments.

  • An ‘ideas person’ - changing lives is not easy and you’re someone who loves hard challenges, driven to find new and better ways of doing things.

  • Experienced multi-tasker - you’ll need to be comfortable managing numerous cases simultaneously, ensuring progress for each individual.

  • Respect for data-driven decision-making - alongside your humanity, you’ll appreciate the importance of acting on data.

  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals with employment is a cherry on top for this role!

Sound like you? Perhaps you don’t feel you tick every box - that’s OK, we encourage those who feel 70% confident with the role, to please hit ‘Apply’, especially if you’re excited about helping kickstart a new era of opportunity for those left behind!
