Role Summary

  • Enhance our membership experience and exceed expectations.
  • Drive membership growth and foster community engagement.
  • Organize and host events that align with our Invest, Learn, and Socialise pillars.
  • Expand our network through strategic marketing and partnerships.
  • Manage our online presence, ensuring consistent communication and brand values.
  • Support the director in launching initiatives and contribute to brand thought leadership.
  • Oversee deal flow, stakeholder management, and support our portfolio of startups.

Role Requirements

  • Strong relationship-building and long-term partnership expertise.
  • Background in investor relations, business development, or related fields within the startup/investment ecosystem.
  • Marketing and brand strategy experience, especially in digital communication.
  • Understanding of the UK startup and investment landscape.
  • Exceptional communication and event planning skills.
  • Proficiency in tech platforms like Notion, Airtable, and Canva.
  • Self-motivated with a history of achieving results.

You will play a pivotal role in maintaining our group's culture, driving membership growth, supporting the success of our investments, and ensuring we deliver an exceptional experience against our three membership pillars: Invest, Learn, and Socialise. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a team that is shaping the future of angel investing in the UK whilst working closely with innovative startups and experienced investors.

What you can expect to be doing

Member Experience

  • Building strong and positive rapport with our members ensuring they are achieving their membership objectives, and we’re exceeding their expectations
  • Managing our community, evaluating group data and engagement, and protecting our group's culture
  • Maintaining consistent engagement and communication with our members via Slack, our newsletter, 1:1 calls and in-person catch-ups
  • Managing our yearly member calendar, planning and organising events across the 3 membership elements, maximising attendance, delivering & hosting exceptional events
  • Identifying useful resources for investors, creating resources, engaging members in the creation of group resources, and creating membership-specific guides and resources

Growth

  • Leading on marketing activity to grow our angel investor network including comms, content, and events
  • Leveraging our brand to identify and attract new potential members who fit our highly selective criteria
  • Maintaining an active and engaging presence on LinkedIn aligned with our brand values
  • Attending and speaking at industry conferences and events
  • Securing partnerships and collaborating with relevant organisations in the startup ecosystem
  • Playing a key strategic role in the organisation and delivery of our annual investor conference
  • Supporting the director with the launch of wider initiatives and programmes aimed at our target audience
  • Supporting brand initiatives through content creation, social media and thought leadership activities
  • Staying up to date with the startup investment market, developing and sharing relevant content with our network

Deal & Portfolio Management

  • Support with driving the quality, diversity, and relevance of our deal flow
  • Facilitating group deals through effective stakeholder management
  • Building strong relationships with our portfolio, staying up to date with performance, and generally champion our founders
  • Developing our connections and resources to benefit our portfolio
  • Offering personalised guidance and mentorship to portfolio companies

Our ideal candidate

  • Excellent relationship-building skills with expertise in crafting long-term relationships.
  • Experience in investor relations, business development, or a similar role in the startup/investment ecosystem.
  • Experience with marketing and brand strategy and its application through social media, written communication, and digital assets
  • A good understanding of the UK startup and investment landscape and a passion for startups and angel investing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational and event planning abilities
  • Proficiency in tech platforms such as Notion, Airtable, Mural, and Canva
  • Self-motivated with a proven track record of delivering results

Where you'll be based

Our office is located in Brighton & Hove where the team meets 2-3 days a week. Your role will also involve travel across Sussex, Surrey, and London to deliver our core events. Outside of this, you can choose to work remotely or come in to the office, allowing you flexibility for your preferred working style.

Compensation

  • £39,000 - £49,000 (salary + performance bonus)
