What we are looking for

A Communications Consultant with experience of managing and delivering sustainability comms projects, to support our inspiring clients to promote the value of social and environmentally responsible business.

About us

At Seismic we have two key goals: to be the best place you have ever worked, and to help 10 million people join the shift by 2030.

Along with creating impact through everything we do, connecting and building relationships is a core priority for us. That goes for our relationships with our amazing clients and with our fantastic team of changemakers, made up of a strong mix of B Corp, Net Zero, Reporting and Sustainability Comms experts, throughout the UK and Europe.

We love working with our clients. From SMEs to multinational corporations, we are committed to enabling them to prosper by helping them become ever more impactful forces for good.

All that’s missing is you!

The role and its responsibilities

We’re looking for an action-oriented individual ready to take on a Sustainability Communications Consultant role, delivering an exciting mix of impact comms projects for clients across multiple sectors.

This role will involve managing both internal and external communications, helping our clients to creatively and credibly tell their impact stories, with evidence and without risk of greenwashing. The ideal candidate will be quick thinking, adaptable and hands-on, with a strong ability to juggle competing priorities across diverse accounts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project Managing a programme of sustainability comms projects and looking for opportunities for further impact

  • Impact Reporting - preparing clients’ Impact Reports, collating sustainability metrics and developing a compelling report

  • Internal comms - employee engagement in a company's impact agenda, such as their B Corp journey

  • Copywriting - writing sustainability copy for Impact Reports, case studies, sustainability website pages

  • Messaging development - developing sustainability narratives and ESG pillar strategies for clients through interactive workshops

  • Content creation - developing inspiring impact-related content, including reports, blogs, infographics, social media posts, videos and animations

  • PR - identifying and sharing sustainability stories with key press, undertaking media relations, securing features and collating coverage

About you

You believe that humanity and businesses need to make a seismic shift in the right direction and want to apply your communications skills to help make that happen. At the same time you want to work in a friendly, collaborative and empathetic team delivering impactful projects for high-profile clients.

You will have strong Communications Consulting experience, delivering sustainability comms projects, ideally from within an agency environment, across multiple clients and sectors.

You understand the subtle difference of Sustainability Communications versus broader comms, recognising it requires an authentic approach, greenwashing awareness and acting as a critical friend for clients. Our Comms experts work side-by-side with our Sustainability experts in Carbon, B Corp and Reporting to provide deep Impact knowledge and deliver truly authentic communications for our clients. You will learn from our experts to build your Sustainability expertise, hone this approach and gain new skills and experience.

To be successful in this role you would need the following attributes:

  • Copywriting skills are a must (for report writing and messaging)

  • Project management of comms projects (overseeing delivery of a project, liaison with a client, collaborating with the internal team)

  • Workshops (hosting, creating and facilitating workshops)

  • Research experience (creating surveys, analysing data, developing a report)

  • Design management (managing designers to deliver design and digital projects. creative skills in design and video are a bonus)

  • Impact experience in social and environmental strategy for businesses (such as B Corp, Net Zero, sustainability reporting and DEI)

  • A qualification in marketing/comms/journalism is ideal but not essential.

Importantly, you love client work, doing multiple different comms projects, and working with teammates to deliver our services. You are a team player - you like a laugh, but are not afraid to graft. You are a student of sustainability, have plenty to offer, and know you have even more to learn.

You are action oriented, have a keen eye for detail and enjoy juggling multiple projects and priorities and just the right amount of time pressure to help keep productive and focused. You are a ‘people person’ with a knack for building relationships with a diverse group of people.

You are more excited by the opportunities of working for a young, fast growing, ever evolving, purpose-driven business than for a large corporate.

In your first 3 months you will:

  • Be introduced to your guide and mentor

  • Go through our onboarding programme with training across all our sustainability services

  • Join our weekly Personal Growth sessions and Friday lunch-and-learns on anything and everything to do with Impact

  • Begin working on your first client projects after initially shadowing the team

Location

Ideally you will be within commuting distance of our London office, attending the office (Spitalfields) at least twice per week.

Working hours

We believe in flexible working hours to better suit our personal lives while being considerate of each other and our clients. We generally work office hours but trust each other to make fair decisions.

Salary and benefits

  • Salary and benefits are competitive and dependent on skills and experience

  • Personal Development Plan with budgetary support

  • 25 days annual leave plus an extra day off for your birthday

  • Opportunity to change up to two bank holiday working days

  • Employee Assistance Programme through YuLife

  • Private healthcare with Bupa UK
