Save the Children UK believes every child deserves a future. We work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children's unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.
The role is for a Store Manager in our Chester shop. This is a large busy shop in a brilliant location, with a vibrant community. Our Chester shop offers a unique shopping experience, with a classic look and feel on the ground floor, and an urban vibe on the upper floor with a vintage offering. As Store Manager, you'll be leading and motivating a diverse, passionate and experienced volunteer team, as well as focusing on maintaining standards and building strong connections within the local community to ensure the shop's continued success.
We are looking for someone with exceptional people skills, a leader who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering. You'll bring proven experience leading and motivating teams, ideally having managed volunteers, or a retail team previously. A strong understanding of what good looks like in a busy and successful community-led shop, ideally with some experience within Retail or a clear passion for sustainable fashion and knowledge of products and trends. A can-do attitude and ability to approach challenges in a positive way, knowing when to reach out for support and guidance where you need it. Enthusiasm to create positive results, be detailed focused and add your own touch by being creative. Previous charity retail experience is ideal, but not essential.
The shop is currently open Mon-Sat 9am-5pm. We're looking for someone able to work 5 days (35 hours) per week to include some weekend working. We are happy to discuss flexible working options at interview.
Save the Children UK is committed to paying staff in a fair and equitable way and will benchmark all salary offers in line with the pay of existing staff. We are committed to developing and supporting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organisation where all employees have a sense of belonging and feel that they can be 'Free to Be Me'. We are not looking for just one type of person - we want to recruit people who can add fresh perspectives, innovative ideas or challenge that disrupts the risk of group think.
Any Employment with Save the Children UK will be subject to the following checks prior to your start date: a satisfactory police record check to include a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and/or an International Criminal Record Check (If applicable), receipt of satisfactory references, proof of eligibility to work in the national location for this role.
