The John Muir Trust is a progressive conservation organisation dedicated to conserving, protecting and repairing wild places for the benefit of everyone. We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Fundraiser – Major Donors. This is a unique opportunity to join our Income Generation team as we look to build capacity and significantly increase income to support our exciting Strategy.
The role involves leading on major donor fundraising, including project and prospect development and stewardship of high value donors. You will be responsible for developing funding bids, submitting compelling proposals to individuals and other funders, and ensuring approaches match their interests and priorities. You will also be tasked with writing reports and updates to keep donors informed of the positive impact of their support.
Job requirements include demonstrable experience of successful fundraising from individuals, especially High Net Worth Individuals. Experience of fundraising appeals or trusts/statutory funders would also be useful. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to turn complex project information into persuasive fundraising content for various audiences. You should have experience of the charitable and environmental sectors, and a basic understanding of the key land management and policy issues facing the Trust.
The role is permanent and full-time, with a salary starting from £26,676. The location is flexible, with regular travel to Edinburgh or Pitlochry. We offer 34 days of holiday (which includes bank holidays) per year plus 2 ‘wild days’ or 2 sustainable travel days. We also provide a 5% employer contribution to a group auto-enrolment pension scheme.
