Role Summary:

  • Deep dive into the finance of a leading payments business

Role Requirements:

  • Recognised professional qualification (ACCA/ACA)
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and initiate change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable working with large datasets
  • Experience with IFRS, consolidations, and multi-currency groups is highly desirable
  • Basic understanding of SQL and data queries is a plus

The Role

You have recently qualified (1-2 years PQE) with a background in practice and are looking to make an impact as a key part of our dynamic finance team. At GoHenry, you will develop a deep understanding of a data-rich payments business with a market leader in the UK.

GoHenry is looking for a bright Senior Financial Accountant to join the Finance team based in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a lead team member of the group accounting and reporting function. In this role, you will report to the Group Financial Controller (GFC).

What you’ll do: 

Card Scheme:

  • Oversee the accounting for the UK and US card schemes including revenue journals, card inventory journals, operating costs, accruals, and prepayments accrued income.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the scheme fund flows and ensure the effectiveness of these flows as new features, products, and partners are introduced.
  • Ensure that all fund flows are being reconciled and that any identified discrepancies are investigated and suitable solutions proposed to resolve them. 
  • Work closely with the Data team to improve controls, reporting, and processes.

Financial Accounting:

  • Responsible for the production of the monthly trial balances for multiple legal entities.
  • Work closely with the FP&A team to understand variances and costs.
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly reporting pack and commentaries.
  • Play a key part in the production of the year-end consolidated financial statements and the audit process.
  • Take the lead on ad-hoc technical accounting work as required.
  • Review the work of junior members of the team and provide effective feedback to assist their development. 
  • Drive global process improvements and efficiencies through the utilisation of new accounting systems and analytical tools.
  • Oversee the preparation & filing of various statutory requirements - e.g. VAT.
  • Business partnering within the business on both day-to-day areas and special projects.
  • Preparation of monthly cash flow report and analysis.

Who we’re looking for:

Essential

  • Have a recognised professional qualification (ACCA / ACA).
  • Be proactive and a self-starter, willing to go and find the answers required.
  • Analytical, investigative mind, and unafraid to challenge others particularly those senior to you.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with individuals both throughout the wider business and externally. 
  • Ability to drive forward new ideas.
  • Able to interpret and implement accounting standards.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills - comfortable dealing with large data files.
  • Care about the mission.

Highly desirable

  • An understanding of consolidations and experience working with multi-currency groups.
  • Experience in accounting and reporting under IFRS.
  • An interest in data and some basic understanding of data queries e.g. SQL.
