The Big Solar Coop is a pioneering start-up located in Shrewsbury, dedicated to transforming the energy landscape through community-led solar projects. As a not-for-profit organization, we collaborate with a network of enthusiastic volunteers and professionals to promote sustainable energy solutions.

Role Summary:

  • Monitor and report on the progress of solar projects using in-house tools.
  • Collaborate with technical, legal, and financial teams to devise optimal project strategies.
  • Resolve issues and troubleshoot as challenges arise.
  • Engage with external contractors and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform site visits and ensure smooth operations during and post-installation.
  • Act as a representative for the Big Solar Co-op at events on various scales.

We are a small start-up organisation, the Big Solar Coop, based in Shrewsbury. We are an exciting company that works with volunteers and paid staff to deliver solar projects. We are currently looking for a Projects Lead to join our team.

The role involves tracking and reporting on project progress using our internal tools, working with technical, legal and financial teams to find optimal solutions, problem solving and troubleshooting, liaising with external providers and regulatory bodies, and conducting site visits. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ongoing liaison with host sites during and after solar array installation, and representing the Big Solar Co-op at local or national events.

Job requirements include the ability to act as an advocate for community energy, work with the wider Sharenergy team, and attend regular Big Solar Co-op and wider Sharenergy Team meetings. Other tasks may be set as required as the co-operative develops.
