Role Summary:

  • Manage day-to-day relations with key stakeholders in space science and research.

Role Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in space science, engineering, political science, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of the ESA Science Programme is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work within a diverse and inclusive environment, with encouragement for women and individuals with disabilities to apply.

The European Space Agency’s world-leading Science Programme leads efforts in heliophysics, planetary science, astrophysics, and fundamental physics, with the mission to “empower Europe to lead space science”. The Programme oversees the studies, development, implementation and operation of all science missions within ESA’s portfolio.

The Director and Programme Strategy Support Office (SCI-D) supports the Director in strategic planning and implementation, including partnerships with international institutions and agencies. The Office acts as the primary interface for maintaining strategic relations with scientific community, national and international scientific institutions, ESA Member States, national and international partners, and internal departments like Future Missions, Projects, Science Operations, Programme Planning and Science Engagement.

You will report to the Head of SCI-D. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day relations with space science and research stakeholders, preparing documents and reports and coordinating meetings with both external and internal entities, as well as collaboration with other Agency Directorates and the Director General’s Cabinet.

A master’s degree or PhD in a space science, engineering and/or political science discipline is required. You ideally have knowledge of the ESA Science Programme; excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
