The British Museum, founded in 1753, is a leading visitor attraction with a remarkable collection spanning over two million years of human history and culture. Our world-famous collection includes the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, the Sutton-Hoo finds, and the Lewis Chessmen. We also hold an extensive collection of prints and drawings spanning 600 years, including works by the greatest graphic artists Dürer, Michelangelo and Rembrandt.

The role of Conservation Mounter: Pictorial Art involves caring for the collection through a combination of interventive and preventive measures in support of the museum's operating plan. You will be contributing to public outreach activities of the Department of Collection Care. This role requires the post holder to be developing specialist knowledge in the mounting of pictorial art on paper to support the Museum loan and exhibition programme.

Job requirements include a recognised professional conservation qualification to degree level or equivalent, with emphasis on the conservation of the material relevant to the specialism of the role. You should have demonstrable practical skills in the mounting and housing of pictorial art on paper and a strong interest in the conservation of art on paper. Good computing skills and proficiency with a range of IT systems are also required.
