  • Role Summary
    • Collaborate with product managers and research teams to develop innovative regulatory product ideas.
    • Drive improvements and maintain the existing product methodologies.
    • Create and update methodology-related documents and publications.
    • Develop and maintain analysis tools using Python and Excel.
    • Conduct impact assessments and prototype methodology developments.
  • Role Requirements
    • Bachelor’s/Master’s in economics, finance, quantitative finance, data science, or related field.
    • 3-4 years of experience in sustainability reporting or sustainable finance.
    • Proficiency in quantitative analysis and familiarity with EU Sustainable Finance regulations.
    • Experience with ESG and corporate data, as well as stakeholder engagement.
    • Problem-solving skills with proficiency in analytical tools.
    • Expertise in Excel, VBA, and programming languages like Python or R.
    • Knowledge of SQL and PowerBI is a plus, as are CFA, CAIA, or FRM titles.

The position is of strategic importance to the company as you will contribute to the development, maintenance and enhancement of Sustainalytics’ regulatory product suite, including the company’s EU Taxonomy, SFDR PAI, EU Benchmarks (BMR) offerings, as well as other products designed in the field of ESG regulations. In this position, you have the opportunity to do pioneering work and be part of a team that values entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to drive improvements in our product offering. You will collaborate closely with product managers, research teams and IT to develop product ideas into market-ready products. The role comprises also the maintenance of existing product methodologies and the creation of methodology-related documents and publications.

Key Responsibilities include collaborating with methodology managers on methodology & product development to convert product and analytical ideas as well as regulatory requirements into data-driven models that can be implemented and tested. You will also collaborate on methodology and analytical development with regulatory methodology managers. You will be expected to prototype methodology developments and perform impact assessments. You will also develop and maintain analysis tools in Python and Excel in order to evaluate the impact of methodological changes on companies and portfolios. You will create documentation on the methodologies or methodological changes and collaborate with external teams within Morningstar Sustainalytics in the implementation of methodologies and products.

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies required include a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in economics, finance, quantitative finance, data science, or related discipline. 3-4 years of relevant work experience in sustainability reporting, sustainable finance, sustainability standards, or related. A strong skillset that includes a background in quantitative analysis, financial statement analysis, an understanding of the EU Sustainable Finance regulatory landscape, in particular EU Taxonomy, SFDR, Benchmark, CSRD and resulting investors’ needs and challenges. Experience working with ESG and corporate data (the content), and with analysts, leadership and a broader network of stakeholders (the people). Creativity and problem-solving aptitude with analytical tools. Attention to detail, good understanding of regulatory texts and jargon, structural thinking with strong conceptual capabilities as well as understanding of global regulatory dynamics. Ability to work independently and within a strong team environment. Strong communication skills (in writing and verbally); Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills. Experience working with clients in the financial services industry or in a strategic consulting role is an asset. Strong MS Excel knowledge including VBA; experience in Python, R or other statistical software considered an asset. Competences in statistics, programming, econometrics and mathematical modelling are a plus. SQL and PowerBI skills considered an asset. CFA, CAIA or FRM titles considered an asset.
