As a Senior Process Development Scientist, you’ll have the opportunity to take the lead of our efforts to bridge the gap between material development and manufacturing. Your role will be crucial in translating chemical processes from the lab to full-scale production.
What you’ll be doing...
- Design and perform experiments to enhance understanding of reaction chemistry in order to optimise manufacturing processes.
- Liaise with in-house manufacturing teams to ensure integration of process development chemistry, optimising production efficiency and maintaining process control.
- Research and test new synthetic routes to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with third-party manufacturers to provide chemistry insights and support process development.
- Work closely with analytical scientists to ensure product quality and reproducibility and to investigate reaction monitoring processes where applicable
- Embed process chemistry considerations in new material development projects.
- Design and conduct experiments to assess the impact of process parameters on product quality and establish the tolerances of these parameters.
- Collaborate with process engineers to translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Support manufacturing operations by implementing new processes and troubleshooting issues.
- Ensure compliance with HSE guidelines, writing necessary documentation like COSHH forms and risk assessments.
- Share knowledge and expertise with the team, contributing to upskilling efforts.
What you’ll need to be successful...
To excel in this role, you’ll need a strong foundation in chemistry, with a degree or PhD in the field, and industrial experience in process development. Your expertise in scaling products from lab to full-scale manufacturing will be crucial, as will your ability to optimise processes and design efficient synthetic routes.
Beyond your technical skills, your adaptability and creativity will be essential as you navigate new materials and processes, leveraging both your experience and innovative thinking. Collaboration will be at the heart of your success, working alongside scientists, engineers, and third-party partners to translate chemical processes into successful manufacturing operations.
