Role Summary:Lead the Soils sector within BeZero Carbon, managing a team of three analysts.Perform carbon credit ratings with a concentration on agriculture-based activities.Serve as the senior technical expert on soil carbon.Drive analytical development and sector expertise to lead carbon project analysis.Author research reports and represent BeZero at industry events.

Role Requirements:Background in soil/agriculture sciences, with regenerative agriculture experience.Preferable experience with US soils/agriculture sector.Academic credentials in environmental/natural sciences.Proven experience in team management.Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.Strong research and analytical skills.Understanding of the voluntary carbon market and associated risks.

Job Description:

BeZero is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our carbon credit ratings team as the Scientist leading our soils/agriculture sector. The ideal candidate would have both an educational and professionalbackground in soil and/or agriculture, ideally withexperience in regenerative agriculture in the private sector.

We are looking for a driven, creative and intellectually curious individual excited by the prospect of working at an innovative start-up aiming to rethink the frameworks within which credits from such projects as assessed for quality.

The role will lead the soils sector and manage a team of three analysts. The role will focus on conducting ratings with a focus on agriculture-based activities, with a particular focus on agriculture-based activities. It will also be the senior technical voice on soils carbon, and provide analytical oversight of work and ratings delivered within the sector by the analyst team. The successful candidate will be expected to drive analytical development, BeZero’s research and develop sector & sub-sector expertise to lead analysis of carbon projects. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the soils analyst team, providing both analytical leadership and helping them to develop in their careers.
  • Deliver content and analytical innovation for our Soil Carbon team.
  • Lead the analysis of carbon projects in the sector.
  • Expand and develop our ratings and analytical models for the sector
  • Write research reports on market trends and dynamics.
  • Attend conferences and events representing BeZero Carbon. Interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work towards monthly targets through delivery of ratings, reviews and content.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have both an educational and professional background in soil and/or agriculture, ideally with experience in regenerative agriculture in the private sector.Ideally with experience working on US soils/agriculture.
  • Have an academic background in environmental and/or natural sciences with applied experience on regenerative agriculture.
  • Have experience managing a small team.
  • Have strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Have a strong research background and analytical skills.
  • Be comfortable speaking to high-level clients and external stakeholders.
  • Have a strong understanding of the voluntary carbon market and the risks offset projects face.

Salary: $120,000-155,000 base + Equity
