The British Museum, founded in 1753, is a leading visitor attraction with a remarkable collection spanning over two million years of human history and culture. Our world-famous collection includes the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, the Sutton-Hoo finds, and the Lewis Chessmen. The role of the Senior Administrator: Collection Projects involves providing excellent office management and administrative support to support delivery of collection move projects. Key responsibilities include managing and delivering administrative support for collection move projects, managing the collection move projects office, including health and fire safety compliance and undertaking fire warden duties as appropriate. You will also manage and monitor collection project budgets, including raising POs and ordering materials and equipment across projects. You will schedule and minute programme and project meetings, manage internal communications and events, manage and schedule any travel arrangements, including travel insurance, risk assessments and visas.
Job requirements include the ability to draft documents and take minutes, synthesise and report on information orally and in writing, maintain effective administrative procedures, and experience of financial administration and budget monitoring. IT literacy and proficiency in a range of Microsoft software packages including Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint is required. Excellent co-ordination and time management skills, ability to manage competing demands changing priorities and requirements, attention to detail, and a flexible approach to changing priorities and requirements are also necessary.
