What will you be doing?
We are now seeking to appoint another Director of the CIC to join our Board of Directors. We are particularly interested in experienced and committed individuals with legal/contract expertise. Time commitment: Spectra is based in Ladbroke Grove. It is expected that you will attend five meetings (in the evening) and a Board Away Day each year, at least 2 of the meetings will be in-person each year. In addition, it is envisaged that you will contribute your expertise outside of Board meetings on occasion e.g. to review service or planning reports, to input into a focus group etc.
What are we looking for?
You will ideally possess senior leadership team or board-level oversight experience. We welcome experience in contract drafting, red lining and review, especially in the context of negotiating grants from trusts and foundations, developing service delivery or research partnerships and small grant making.
What difference will you make?
If you feel passionately about addressing health inequalities and have an ethos aligned to our mission to support and empower people, we would love to hear from you. You will provide strategic direction for the organisation and support service delivery. This will support Spectra’s delivery of statutory and grant funded services; support us in advancing our vision, and provide constructive scrutiny and oversight of the Chief Executive, and the work of Spectra’s staff. Spectra has a strong inclusive, peer-led and delivery ethos which is central to our service model. People who are directly affected by the issues, with lived experience, are involved in the organisation at every level including at board level. As such we particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience at any of the intersections at which Spectra provides services. Under the steer of its Chief Executive and Board of Directors, Spectra’s outstanding staff team provide supportive; knowledgeable; non-judgemental services which are peer-led. Spectra strives to proactively identify the needs of all its service users, supporting them appropriately and effectively. We work mainly with LGBTQ+ communities, migrants, sex workers and young people. Around 50% of our front-line services are for trans communities in response to high levels of unmet need. Spectra has a wide range of services: Counselling, Peer mentoring, Social Groups, Advocacy; extensive sexual health testing and outreach in London funded through statutory contracts; a peer-led Sex Worker service; Relationship, Sex Education, Diversity training; Youth Groups and training for other professionals.
