Role Summary:

  • Lead engaging reading and writing sessions for pupils.
  • Collaborate with a team to support sessions on non-leading days.
  • Organize and oversee termly celebration events showcasing students' work.
  • Guide volunteers in their roles during sessions.
  • Implement monitoring and evaluation practices to measure student progress.

Role Requirements:

  • Ability to conduct sessions from a provided plan autonomously.
  • Passion for working with children and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Experience in leading children's groups in workshops or educational settings.

We are The Literacy Pirates, an organisation committed to supporting young people through after school learning sessions. We are currently seeking passionate Session Leaders to deliver our impactful programmes. This role is crucial in achieving our goal of supporting more young people.

The Role: As a Session Leader, you will be responsible for delivering daily reading and writing sessions to pupils in years 5-8. Your timetable will include days when you lead session and days when you support session. You will also be responsible for leading termly celebration events to launch Young Pirate products, briefing and supporting volunteer crewmates in session, and delivering monitoring and evaluation activities to check progress.

Job Requirements: We are looking for candidates who can independently deliver sessions from a session plan, enjoys working with children, and can balance a warm but structured approach that helps children have fun but stay safe and kind. Essential experience includes leading groups of children in workshops, sessions or similar.
