Volunteer Secretary

What will you be doing?

The International Association for Democracy is an NGO that works to defend and advance democracy around the globe. We link people with their governments and lobby governments to promote, strengthen and safeguard democratic institutions, processes, norms and values at home and abroad. We also work towards raising public awareness about the current state of democracy around the world and what should be done to better defend and promote democracy.   Role Objectives:

Attend and take minutes of Board meetings  Attend and take minutes of other meeting (internal and external) as required Take charge of the administrative work of the association (e.g., organise Board votes, manage IAD’s internal files, etc.) Contribute to IAD’s relationship-building with external stakeholders and raise IAD’s public profile Assist the Executive Director in various tasks and projects Oversee and manage the central email inbox Conduct monthly file backups for all internal Google Workspace drives

Strong written and oral communication skills Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills Knowledge and understanding of how NGOs work Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues both within IAD and from other agencies/organisations Good organisational skills Passion for promoting democracy, rule of law and human rights Previous professional experience in an NGO
