Climate change: we're on red alert. We want to demonstrate how individual action contributes on a local, national and global level. We need someone who can commit the time and energy to what we do and help build momentum.

What will you be doing?

We are a small charity with massive scope to shift the narrative on climate change where other organisations have failed. We have 3 trustees, but would like to build up our board and include more trustees who are keen to drive us forward through their active involvement.  We're looking for help with the communications primarily, and secondly any experience of small charities and their growth stage would be really useful. Our goal for 2025 is to build up our local group of activists who watch their carbon footprint and sustainability levels. We have a long term aim to create a carbon labelling campaign, a carbon footprint and carbon account app, a personal carbon trading group, and good recognition amongst local businesses and government, and to create a blueprint which can be adopted in other locations. We want to spread the movement far and wide with targeted collaboration with other NGOs to promote public, academic and political acceptance of the carbon labelling, allowances and personal carbon trading approach, while running communications and fundraising campaigns.

What are we looking for?

It would be great to find a new trustee with a skill set based in communications, marketing and campaigning. Here's an overview of the different activities we'd like help with.

experience of real world and digital marketing strategies

attracting people to events and workshops building a narrative / story around our approach optimising the marketing funnel to bring in new Patreon donors (open to using other platforms too)

article, blog post or social media writing skills (we need to communicate our existence, our raison d'etre and our approach to the world) video/film/graphic design skills (a picture is worth a thousand words - assuming it's the right picture) strategy and planning (we have to balance continuous progress on all fronts with taking advantage of low-hanging fruit)

Vital points:

awareness of the serious nature of the crisis as per the UN IPCC reports (and the contrast to the approach taken by the UK and Net Zero 2050) great desire to see society take the fastest and most effective possible approach to climate change opinion that the EcoCounts's approach is effective and efficient and feasible ability to work on in-real-life / online / hybrid activities

Nice-to-have:

broad knowledge of global warming and climate change in-depth knowledge in any areas in marketing, communications and campaigning flexibility and desire to turn your hand to any task

The person we are looking for:

feels a strong necessity to do something about the situation the world is in can appreciate the wider picture of how EcoCounts seeks to create change can offer help in any of those fields below has the availability to commit to it long-term likes co-operation, exchange of ideas, flexibility can put their ideas across clearly while seeking first to understand others can average 4 hours a week

What difference will you make?

This is a role for someone who is looking for a piece of the action and we are an organisation that can give that to you. We only have 3 trustees so when any of them are unavailable, we really feel it. We’re looking for someone to take on some of the workload and help drive progress in addition to the standard trustee duties. Our ideal person would be someone who can devote a couple of days a week to this, but we are small and flexible, so if you're smashing it out the park one week, but just staying in touch the next, as long as you can average around 4 hours a week, we'll be happy.
