What will you be doing?

Visyon are looking for exceptional individuals, who share our Visyon Values and have a passion for improving the lives of children/young people's mental health.  Trustees will sit on the Board and one of our sub-groups (Service Delivery, Finance or Governance), and to work with the Senior Leadership Team to strengthen Visyon and ensure sustainability long term.  We are particularly looking for trustees with expertise in one of the following areas: - Finance - Business and environmental sustainability - Cyber security - Data management and analysis We need individuals who can commit around 10 hours a month.  Board meetings take place quarterly via Teams during the evening.  Sub-groups are scheduled for late afternoons via Teams to ensure maximum flexibility.  We hold a Board Development Day annually face to face and our AGM takes place each September at our Congleton base. Our key challenges for the next 12 months are to ensure sustainability of the charity, reducing our impact of the environment while increasing our impact in the community, diversifying funding streams and ensuring long-term security for Visyon.  

What are we looking for?

Provide    strategic    direction    and    motivational    leadership    to    the    Chief Executive (CEO) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in the delivery of the Charity’s strategic objectivesUnder delegation from the Chair, undertake specific duties, for example as board lead for a particular function or as a member of one of the Board sub-groupsEnsure that the Board fulfils its statutory duties in line with relevant legislationEnsure that the appropriate standards of behaviour are maintained in accordance with the Charity’s values and Code of ConductPositively promote the Charity and act as an ambassador.   Ensure that the Board maintains a strategic focus throughout its workAssist in the oversight and management of risks to the charityParticipate in the sub-groups, as delegated by the Chair, to ensure robust governance and oversight of the system of internal controlContribute to annual programme of internal audits and policy reviews.Develop a constructive and effective working relationship with, provide support to, constructively challenge and act as a critical friend for the CEO and SLT. Monitor the performance of the charity, and to suggest courses of action that will enable an improvement in the performance of servicesRequire and support the development of smart methods of assessing, monitoring and evaluating charity performance. 

What difference will you make?

Responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity. Ensuring the financial health of the Charity, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines. Providing clear strategic direction for the Charity and ensuring that mechanisms/reporting structures are in place to ensure that it delivers its aims and objectives.
