What will you be doing?
Liaising with our Trustee Treasurer, our accountants and the Theatre Director and other staff, you will be responsible for keeping the books of the two organisations using Quickbooks cloud based software. We have two accounting entities which turn over about £150k and £300k respectively. we don't have too many invoices and purchases that need to be entered and tracked and we also use other systems (our box office ticketing system and our cafe/bar till system) that provide much of the data for entry into Quickbooks. We would value anyone with relevant experience but are particularly interested in applicats who have current or previous book keeping experience, experience in use of Quickbooks cloud and those with accounting qualifications. Whilst this is a volunteer role we do provide all our volunteers with a range of benefits including tickets to shows and discounted food and drinks when they are on site working. However, this role can easily be performed in a Hybrid mode with just occasional visits to our premises. A full job description is attached - however, as this is a volunteer role, this can be adapted if candidates can only carry out a subset of the full specification.
What are we looking for?
An interest in the arts, and particularly theatre. A strong desire to work with others in helping build and sustain a small local charity. An interest in contributing and giving back to the community. Strong financial management skills and book keeping experience. Comfortable working with a diverse range of people.
What difference will you make?
Most of our staff and volunteers are very capable creators and good administrators. But finance skills, such as book keeping, are not something they always feel productive and efficient in and we find it takes a lot of their time. Having a skilled volunteer who can help us manage and understand our financial position more effectively will be invaluable and will free up time and resources so that we can continue to make great theatre and provide participatory opportunities in the local community. We are a small but friendly team of people who all want to make a difference to peoples lives through bringing accessible and relevant theatre to our community. You will find a warm welcome and make lots of friends, as well as having great opportunities to develop and add to your own skills and experience.
