What will you be doing?
About the Role: As Treasurer, the role is voluntary, you’ll oversee our charity’s finances, budgets, and deliver financial reports for the board when required, and work closely with the Operations Director & Finance Officer, who are responsible for the day-to-day matters. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring we meet compliance standards and sustain our financial health. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and the financial transactions and end of year reporting, working with our existing accountants Joint approval of spending when required Advise the board on financial strategy and planning Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for the statutory accounts Attendance at Board and committee meetings, delivering financial reports Delivery of the annual written financial statement to members at the AGM
The Charity has eight Trustees who are also Directors of the Trust. The board consists of the Trustees plus the Operations Director. The Trust also retains the services of some ex-Trustees as voluntary consultants to advise the board on specialist matters, which includes Governance, Birds of Prey, Land Management and Agriculture.
What are we looking for?
The Treasurer’s primary role is to oversee the financial management of the charity and ensure that the Board receives accurate and timely financial information. Specific responsibilities include:
Ensuring that the charity complies with its governing documents, charity law, and relevant financial regulations. Overseeing the financial health of the charity by monitoring cash flow, budgets, and financial forecasts. Preparing and presenting financial reports to the Board of Trustees in a clear and accessible way. Leading on the preparation and review of the charity’s annual budget. Ensuring the charity’s financial policies and procedures are up to date and effective. Liaising with the charity’s auditors or independent examiners to ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports. Acting as a counter-signatory on payments and ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place. Advising the Board on financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans and decisions. Supporting and mentoring any staff or volunteers responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of the charity and responding to questions promptly. Attending the AGM and presenting the annual accounts
