What will you be doing?

The View Magazine CiC is a campaigning organisation, dedicated to giving a voice to women within the criminal justice system. Our team publishes a quarterly magazine, and sends out over 2,000 copies into women's prisons, free of charge. We advocate for less incarceration and much better funded and accessible mental health services. We are looking to hire a motivated editorial assistant to join our creative and ambitious in-house editorial team. The editorial assistant will be directly managed by the Editor-in-Chief, however, they will have the opportunity to work with our team and also on our Rebel Justice University Societies. The applicant will be: Supporting commissioning editors with organisational tasks to assist with the development of articles. This may include working with writers and suppliers to schedule interviews, book meetings and complete day-to-day administrative tasks.  Supporting writers and editors with research for articles, drafting reports and notes on key topics and themes, completing first read thoughts of articles and fact checking claims and statements made in articles. Training will be provided to the successful candidate on The View’s style guide and standard fact-checking practice.  Uploading finished articles to The View’s website, drafting headlines and social media copy, creating article imagery and liaising with the social media assistant to ensure coverage for key projects. Previous experience is essential for this volunteer role.
