What will you be doing?

Key responsibilities

To oversee the CVF bank account, make payments and work with the membership secretary to monitor receipts from membership subscriptions and donations.  Report on the organisation’s financial affairs at committee meetings and work with the auditor to produce an approved set of accounts for the AGM and annual report. Reclaim gift aid from HMRC at appropriate intervals To invest reserves appropriately To administer our small grants programme, giving a few grants each year of around £500 to other small community groups

What are we looking for?

Key characteristics

Organised, numerate and honest.  Accountancy experience. Familiarity with online banking an advantage Interested in the work of Cam Valley Forum Able to attend most of our committee meetings. These are currently held in Grantchester 6 times a year at 2-4pm on a Wednesday, but the time and place is reviewed at intervals to suit the committee members.

This is an unpaid voluntary role, but expenses are paid.

This role is the vital underpinning to our work, by looking after our finances efficiently, and contributing to our strategy and operations, you will  help us grow and thrive.   You will have the satisfaction of contributing to cleaning up the River Cam: we have successfully eradicated the invasive weed Floating Pennywort and achieved Designated Bathing Water Status for the River Cam in 2024. We are now working on ending sewage pollution (target 2028) and saving our Chalk Streams from overabstraction.
