Plateful cafe is a refugee social-enterprise cafe based in Lewisham; we often operate at local markets too. This role involves managing our market stall, sales, and handmade produce at events.

What will you be doing?

Plateful cafe works to relieve poverty and isolation amongst refugees, asylum seekers and ethnic minorities in Lewisham. Our commitment is to reach the most vulnerable people in our community and help them access the support they are entitled to. Refugees will benefit from workshops, training skills and knowledge relevant for catering industry. We make and sell a variety of products including jams, biscuits! All the products have been made by local refugees in Lewisham, using traditional recipes. We are currently selling in market stalls and local shops.   What will you do?  Prepare the stall and manning the stall at Market  Provide customers with essential product information and interact with customers  Using Izettle overseeing the processing debit card transactions as well as collection of cash payments for product purchase  Assist with the sale process by maintaining a fully stocked stall  Ensuring high level of customer satisfaction through excellent sale service  Oversee the tagging of products to ensure correct prices are reflected Responsible for the overall cleanliness, upkeep and maintenance of the stall   Commitment: Markets are at different times but usually at weekends from 9-4; you can opt to do the entire shift or half-day   Locations: The markets are at different locations but usually in the London boroughs of Lewisham/Greenwich   Desirable: Car; mileage allowance of 0.45 per mile

What are we looking for?

Qualities: 

Previous experience managing sales and/or finances Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour Ability to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting and physical labour, such as setting up and taking down the market stall Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to learn about our charity and products and effectively promote sales
