We’re searching for a Business Support Executive to join the Virgin StartUp Founder Support Team and be the first friendly face entrepreneurs meet on their startup journey! As the initial point of contact for ambitious founders, you'll be their guiding star from application through to Business Advisor assignment. Tell me more

  • Manage all inbound communication through phone and email channels, providing timely responses and resolutions for Start Up Loans Programme queries.
  • Conduct initial assessments of loan applications, including Know Your Client (KYC) checks, eligibility verification, and personal affordability evaluation.
  • Review submitted documentation (including business plans) and progress qualified founders to the next stage with detailed handover notes.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, documenting all interactions and managing received documentation.
  • Guide ineligible applicants to alternative resources or funding options, while supporting qualified candidates through their startup journey.
  • Actively manage and re-engage the new application pipeline, maintaining consistent communication with founders throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth application journey, while conducting monthly data reconciliation tasks.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of programme eligibility requirements and ensure all work adheres to Virgin StartUp procedures and standards.

What you’ll need

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a natural phone manner and strong ability to build rapport with diverse founders.
  • Business acumen developed through direct experience, personal entrepreneurship, or relevant studies, including understanding of day-to-day financial management.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to process complex information and guide applicants toward practical solutions.
  • Strong organisational abilities with proven experience managing high workloads while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated team player with a target-driven mindset and empathetic approach to founder support.

The extra details

Role type: Contract (8 months)

Location: London hub (approx. once per month) & your home space

Salary: £29,000 - £32,000, plus bonus - We're putting our salaries out there for everyone to see - no smoke and mirrors, just honest numbers. We'll offer a salary that matches your skills, always aiming for room to grow.
