What will you be doing?

The UK board of MMW is at a key and exciting moment of transition in its history, as we prepare to grow our team and expand our programming both in breadth and depth.   We are therefore seeking additional skillsets to diversify the talents currently represented on our board.  The Treasurer will provide financial oversight and guidance to the UK Board, working closely with the Global Director and fellow UK trustees to manage the charity’s finances in accordance with UK charity law and best practices. While MMW's programmes operate in Sierra Leone, this role is UK-based and focused on the UK registered charity.

What are we looking for?

Qualified accountant or equivalent financial management experience. Understanding of UK charity accounting regulations and best practices. Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial 1 audiences.   Strong commitment to MMW’s mission and values. Experience working with non-profit organisations is desirable.

What difference will you make?

By serving as Treasurer, you will directly contribute to MMW's mission of empowering women and girls in Sierra Leone, a country where 61 % of women suffer from gender-based violence. Your financial expertise will ensure the responsible stewardship of resources, maximising the impact of our programmes. As part of our board, you will support and shape our work and strategic direction as well as help us achieve our purpose to provide women and girls in Sierra Leone the skills and resources they need to tell their stories and challenge harmful narratives. We believe that when women's voices are heard, positive change happens.
