Role Summary

The John Muir Trust is a progressive conservation organisation dedicated to conserving, protecting and repairing wild places for the benefit of everyone. We have a rare opportunity to join our Central Region team as a Conservation Officer, supporting our work in the Ben Nevis area.
The role involves supporting the Nevis Property Manager in delivering the Property Management Plan at Nevis to demonstrate exemplary land management. You will also support the work of any other staff based at Nevis, such as a Seasonal Ranger, and undertake practical conservation tasks. You will be responsible for daily upkeep of equipment, habitat and species monitoring, and keeping records up to date.
You will liaise with contractors on site about practical conservation tasks or engagement activities, coordinate and deliver volunteer activity on the property, and support delivery of outdoor learning activities to engage people with practical conservation. You will also assist with engaging members of the public with our work and wild places, including workshops and events.

The salary is Band B, starting from £27,370, with a 5% employer contribution to a group auto-enrolment pension scheme. The role comes with 34 days of holiday per year plus 2 wild/sustainable travel days.
