What will you be doing?

Africa Health Organisation (AHO) Role Description The Africa Health Organisation (AHO) will be 25 years old on 14 August 2025. We seek dedicated Gender Equality Policy and Strategy Volunteers to join us and celebrate our Silver Jubilee by addressing inequality in boys and girls, men and women by designing and writing the Policies and Strategies for our 25 critical programmes on gender equality in Africa and the Diaspora.   Specific Duties and Responsibilities   REDEFINING GENDER EQUALITY i. Writing a Strategy and Plan of Action on:

Promoting Education Equity and Equality for Girls and Boys. Promoting the General Health of Women and Girls and Men and Boys. Advocating Child Protection for Girls and Vulnerable Boys. Ending Child Sexual Exploitation & Abuse of Girls and Boys. Ending Trafficking of Boys and Girls, Men and Women. Ending Child Marriages for Girls and Boys. Ending Child and Teenage Pregnancy and  Ensuring Accountability by Boys and Men. Ending Forced Marriages for Boys & Girls/Men and Women Promoting Child Nutrition and Ending Malnutrition for Girls and Boys. Ending Domestic Violence for Boys and Girls, Men & Women Ending Children's and Adults' Bullying in school, work and society. Ending Violence Against Women & Girls and Men & Women. Ending Maternal Mortality and Mobidity in Africa and the UK. Financial and Economic Empowerment of Women, Girls, Men and Boys. Promoting Education for Vulnerable Groups, such as Disabled People. Ending Inequality in Conflict Between Humans and Animals. Promoting Equality in Disaster Preparedness, Response and Recovery Promoting Gender Equality in Environmental Protection & Conservation. Promoting Gender Equality in War, Conflict and Natural Disasters. Promoting Gender Equality in Humanitarian Provision & Protection. Ending Male Genital Mutilation (MGM) (Infant Circumcision) Ending Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/FGC) Addressing Specific Health Issues Affecting Boys and Men. Addressing Specific Health Issues Affecting Girls & Women. Ending Honour-Based Killing for Girls and Vulnerable Boys. 

  ii. To produce the final copy to be added to the website and database.  

What are we looking for?

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Honours, Master or doctorate in any subject such as social sciences like international development, sociology, women's studies, gender studies, global health, public health, medicine, economics, statistics, mathematics, sciences, STEM subjects, engineering, psychology, anthropology, biology, biological sciences, political science, politics, geography, geology, marine sciences, and any subject relevant to your chosen topic. At least two (2) years of experience writing reports at school, authoring/contributing to publications, or researching in a research institute like a university, college, institute, charity or think tank. Good broad knowledge of the wider health and social determinants of health Analytical skills Knowledge of gender equality issues, especially women and girls and vulnerable boys and men.

  Funding and Finance The role will involve seeking and securing funding and finance for the specific goals, objectives, targets, and outcomes. You will work with AHO President, the Board and senior management to research and identify public, private, philanthropic, individual giving and legacy funding and finance. Each volunteer will have the opportunity to choose their goal and set a fundraising target to achieve. If the volunteer successfully meets their goal, they will be offered a fully paid job to head the delivery of their chosen goal supported by a qualified senior manager.   Languages requirements The ability to speak one of Africa's widely spoken languages would be an added advantage e.g. Afrikaans, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Fulani, German, Greek, Hausa, Hindi, Igbo, Italian, Japanese, Kinyarwanda, Korean, Lingala, Malagasy, Ndebele, Oromo, Portuguese, Russian, Sesotho, Shona, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Swati, Thai, Tigrinya, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, Vietnamese, Xhosa, Yoruba, Zulu, etc.    VOLUNTEERING IS NOT A PAID JOB. ALL our Volunteer Opportunities are not paid or salaried. Do not apply if you want a paid job or plan to negotiate a pay deal with us. Volunteering allows people to give their time for free to society while gaining the experience they need when applying for future paid jobs. ==========
